FACT: ACKEE: African name Akye Fufo; scientific name - Blighia Sapida. The ackee plant was brought from West Africa to Kew, Jamaica, by Captain William Bligh in 1793. Ackees are yellow in colour and must be cooked before eating - has the appearance and texture of scrambled eggs. The Jamaican national dish is Ackee and saltfish!
